Mary Shaw is the Alan J. Perils Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean for Professional Programs at Carnegie Mellon University, where she is also a member of the Human Computer In***ction Institute. From 1984 to 1987 she served as Chief Scientist of CMU's Software Engineering Institute. Dr. Shaw is a Fellow of the IEEE, ACM, and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1993 she received the Wanner prize for contributi*** to software engineering.
David Garlan is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining Carnegie Mellon's faculty in 1990, he worked in the Computer Research Laboratory of Tektronix, Inc., Oregon. He completed his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Garlan is a Fellow of the ACM.
